Anatomy of a Great Advertisement

Creating an advertisement is not like open heart surgery nor is it rocket science, but when you are creating an ad there are somethings that have proven to work time and time again.

A Great Big Ole Headline
Your headline will make or break your ad instantly. So create an headline that makes the reader want to read on, and while your at it make it bold and big. The results from doing this will mean that more people will respond to your ad and take notice.

Use a Great Graphic
Right after a headline, a great high resolution graphic will help your ad get notice. For instance if you are selling eyeglasses, you need to have a nice pair of glasses in your ad. Don’t have an inferior photo, this will only make your ad less effective and decrease sales and response.

Benefits Benefits Benefits
People respond to “what’s in it for me” not a long list of features. Its okay to show some features but back them up and emphasize the benefits of your product or service. So if you are selling selling surge protectors, its great that it is rated for 100 amps, but it would be better to show that during a storm the owner will not lose their computer data and they have a money back guarantee if it does happen.

A Call to Action
In sales the key to getting people do something is to….The key is to ask them for the order. In advertising this is called having a “call to action”. Without a strong call to action your ad will not be effective at all, and in my opinion you should not run it because you are wasting money. Your call to action can be asking the reader to call your toll free number or go to your website and place an order with a special discount code. Whatever your call to action is, make sure that you have one and make it prominent in your advertisement.

Having these four items in your advertisement will help to guarantee a successful advertising campaign.
